Where to find Mol in Baldur’s Gate 3

Patience is a virtue when looking for Mol’s location

Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

Mol is a little Tiefling girl in Baldur’s Gate 3, and she’s a bit of a scoundrel. You can find her in the Tiefling children’s hideout in the Emerald Grove in act 1, assuming you’re small enough to fit through a hole in the wall or you save Mirkon from the Harpies.

Mol acts as a minor quest giver in the first act, asking you to steal the sacred druid idol and cause trouble. However, just like all the other Tieflings, she’ll move out of the Emerald Grove if you save her people, making her way to the Last Light Inn in act 2’s Shadow-cursed Lands.

This is where Mol’s story can get much more complex and confusing, leading to the “Find Mol” questline, which can span much of the game. In this Baldur’s Gate 3 guide, we’ll tell you how to “rescue” Mol and where you can find her.

[Ed. note: This post contains spoilers for act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3.]

How to start the ‘Find Mol’ quest in BG3 act 2

Below, we’ll explain how to start the “Find Mol” quest in act 2. But if you already have it, feel free to skip to the next section, as you cannot progress this quest at all until you reach Baldur’s Gate in act 3.

Assuming the Tieflings all survived act 1, Mol will appear in the Last Light Inn in the Shadow-touched Lands in act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3. When you walk in, you’ll see her playing chess with none other than Raphael, the Cambion Fiend disguised as a human. If you talk to the pair of them, Mol will return to her friends over by the bar and Raphael will flap his mouth at you as usual.

Once you progress the act 2 story a bit, the Last Light Inn will come under attack by the cult operating out of Moonrise Towers, and will attempt to kidnap Isobel. If you fail this combat, basically everyone in the inn dies, and it’s very bad. But even if you succeed and save Isobel, many of the Tieflings will be carried off to Moonrise Towers, and you’ll need to rescue them again.

After the attack, you can talk to Mol’s friends — the other Tiefling children in the Last Light Inn — and they’ll ask you to rescue their friend for them. This will give you the “Find Mol” quest.

Depending on how much of a completionist you are, it’ll probably be quite a few hours between the Last Light Inn and your initial entry into Moonrise Towers. But, once you make your way in there, infiltrate the prisons, and rescue the Tieflings, you’ll discover that Mol is nowhere to be found. Go ahead and put your detective cap away now. You’re not going to find Mol anywhere in act 2, as she’s already escaped to Baldur’s Gate itself.

Finish up rescuing the other Tieflings — including Zevlor — and clean up all the quests you want to do in act 1 and act 2. Once you’re ready, head to Baldur’s Gate to pursue Mol.

Once you make it to Baldur’s Gate, continue the main quest into the Lower City and put Jaheira in your party. Start the “Aid the Underduke quest, which you pick up by going inside the Sharess’ Caress pleasure house in Rivington.

From there, head to the entrance to the Guildhall with Jaheira — denoted on the map above — east of the counting house. As long as you have the Druid Harper in your party, the scoundrels blocking the entrance will let you in without a fuss.

Once you make it into the Guildhall, walk around and meet all the thieves. Eventually, you’ll bump into Mol, who is making a new life for herself among the thieves of the Guildhall. Talk to her and you’ll complete the “Find Mol” quest.

If you want to aid Mol further — although she won’t see it as you helping her — you can find her contract with Raphael inside the House of Hope. If you kill him and then tell Mol about it, however, she’ll yell at you, saying Raphael was her Warlock Patron and that he still owed her a few promises. She’ll then vow that the guild won’t look on you too kindly when she’s in charge. Admittedly, that doesn’t feel very good. But, on the upside, you saved a child from being eternally enslaved by a literal devil!
